McDonald's Japan unveils newest chicken burger with rice buns

This comes more than a year after launching its initial range of rice-bun burgers.

McDonald’s Japan announced the launch of newest chicken burger that has buns made from rice instead of bread.

In a media release (translated by SoraNews24), the Rice Chicken Tatsuta Setouchi Lemon Tartar contains fried chicken with ginger soy sauce flavouring, but adds grated lemon from the southern Setouchi region, which is famed for its lemon production, and a dollop of tartar sauce.

The item is launched along with the Rice Chicken Tatsuta, a re-release from the fast food giant. It contains fried chicken flavoured with ginger and soy sauce, along with crispy shredded cabbage and a spicy sauce.

The move comes more than a year after rolling out its initial range of rice bun-burgers.

Both items will be available as part of the chain’s “Yoru Mac” (“Night Mac“) range, a dinnertime menu first introduced in March 2018 in Japan.
