Starbucks Korea brings back Black Glazed Latte for autumn
This year’s lineup also adds a new Hoji Glazed Tea Latte.
Starbucks Korea is kicking off its autumn menu with the return of the Black Glazed Latte alongside a new Hojicha-based drink, the Hoji Glazed Tea Latte, from 28 August.
The Black Glazed Latte, first introduced in 2019, has become a recurring autumn seasonal beverage for the chain.
The drink recorded cumulative sales of 26 million cups through last year.
Starbucks Korea said customers have also developed customised ways of ordering the drink, including adding extra espresso shots and adjusting the amount of glazed foam and drizzle sauce.
This year’s autumn lineup adds the Hoji Glazed Tea Latte, which applies the glazed foam concept to a tea latte made with domestic hojicha.
The drink combines the roasted, nutty flavour of hojicha with creamy glazed foam.
The launch comes as hojicha gains traction as a tea trend following the popularity of matcha.
Unlike matcha, hojicha is made from roasted tea leaves, giving it a milder bitterness and a more pronounced roasted flavour.
The seasonal menu also includes the Yuja V Fizzio and Yuja Matcha V Fizzio, which combine yuzu with either a refreshing base or matcha.
Starbucks Korea is also offering Pure Matcha and Pure Hojicha, made with Jeju green tea leaves and domestic hojicha, respectively, brewed with purified water.
Food additions include the Fig Jambon Rucola Sandwich, made with balsamic fig ripple jam, ricotta cheese, and arugula, and the Earl Grey Caramel Nuts Cake, which combines an Earl Grey cake base with mascarpone fresh cream and Earl Grey cream.
To coincide with the autumn launch, Starbucks Korea is offering Green and Gold members up to three additional stars when they purchase six promotional beverages from 28 August to 3 September.
Eligible drinks include the Black Glazed Latte, Hoji Glazed Tea Latte, Yuja V Fizzio, Yuja Matcha V Fizzio, Pure Matcha, and Pure Hojicha.
The Black Glazed Latte has also been added to Starbucks Korea’s One More Coffee programme.
The benefit allows customers to purchase an additional beverage at up to 60% off from 30 minutes after ordering an eligible drink.
