Philippine QSR delivery services ordered to shut down after data breach
The National Privacy Commission prompted Jollibee Foods Corp. and Wendy’s Philippines to shutdown their online food delivery services.
Manila Bulletin reported that the attacks on Wendy’s and Jollibee are being treated as “two different case altogether” by the National Privacy Commission (NPC), said NPC Complaints & Investigation Division Chief Francis Euston Acero.
Acero said that amidst fears that there might be a large scale cyber attack targeting online food delivery services in the Philippines, the two cases are “completely unrelated”.
NPC’s Legal and Enforcement Office has sent to Jollibee an official order obliging the food company to implement preventive security measures on its website to address serious vulnerabilities.
