Jamie's Italian shuts Hong Kong, Taiwan stores amidst COVID-19 outbreak
The UK-based restaurant has already been bogged down by the social unrest in Hong Kong.
Jamie’s Italian has closed its stores in Hong Kong and Taiwan, no thanks to the outbreak of COVID-19, South China Morning Post has reported.
Two Hong Kong sites, including the flagship Causeway Bay location, and one in a Taipei shopping centre have ceased trading.
The business, operated by Big Cat Group, saw Q4 sales drop by 20% to 35% in 2019 due to the Hong Kong protests, the report noted.
The UK-based restaurant owned by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver went into administration last May, closing 22 of its 25 stores.
