Jollibee to debut in Manhattan with Midtown outlet
It nabbed a 2,723 sqft site on Eighth Avenue.
Philippines-based fast-food heavyweight Jollibee has landed in Manhattan for the first time.
Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) Retail announced in media release that Jollibee has inked a 10-year lease for a 2,723 sqft space at 609 Eighth Avenue.
Set to open this fall, Jollibee will join Arby’s in the single-story building, occupying 1,957 sqft on the ground floor and 766 sqft in the basement.
“The proximity to the Port Authority along with the tremendous pedestrian count makes this Eighth Avenue corridor an ideal location for fast casual brands,” said Daniel Iwanicki, senior vice president of leasing and development at Ashkenazy Acquisition Corporation, the landlord.
“Jollibee is primed for success at 609 Eighth Avenue given its optimum location near the bus terminal and the neighborhood’s heavy foot traffic,” commented NGKF Retail’s Harrison Abramowitz, director.
“There is a large Filipino population in New Jersey, many of whom commute through Port Authority every day. This will be a tremendous help in introducing the chain to Manhattan,” Abramowitz added.
To date, Jollibee operates a network of over 890 restaurants across the globe. With only two locations in the northeastern United States—Queens, New York and Danforth, New Jersey—the outlet at 609 Eighth Avenue will serve as the flagship location.
