Popeyes eyes first China outlet in Shanghai
The chicken chain previously reported plans to open around 1,500 restaurants in the country.
Restaurant Brands International-owned (RBI) Popeyes has announced its first China outlet in Shanghai is slated to open next year.
“I think we can be the no.1 Chicken brand here in China and all around Asia,” RBI CEO Jose Cil said in an interview with Reuters.
Last June saw the Louisiana-based chicken chain announcing plans to open around 1,500 stores in China, the world’s second largest economy.

Cil added that their initial plan was “just really to put a framework on the short-term potential business.”
Popeyes has partnered with TFI TAB Food Investments (TFI), which also currently partners with the same RBI brand Burger King in China.
