Popeyes South Korea operator denies exit rumors
The chain responded to a memo that went viral online.
The operator of Popeyes in South Korea has denied rumors that the chicken chain will be pulling out of the market.
"It may be true that some of the restaurants in the country will close down but not all will. I cannot give further details except that the company will continue to sell its brand here," an official from TS Corporation told The Korea Times.
TS Corporation is the partner company of TS Food & System that operates the American chain in the country, which recently relaxed social distancing measures on particular food facilities.
A memo reportedly written by a Popeyes restaurant employee in Seoul went viral online that started the following: "Popeyes brand will no longer pursue business in Korea as of November."
The said employee also stated that the chain's branch in Gwangjin-gu, eastern Seoul, will be the last restaurant before the company withdraws its business here.
