Starbucks celebrates Indonesia’s coffee heritage with new ‘experience center’

Customers visiting the new center can learn more about sourcing, roasting and brewing coffee, and explore coffee through interactive workshops.

Starbucks announced the opening of a new “Coffee Experience Center”, celebrating Indonesia’s coffee heritage.

Nestled within the Starbucks Dewata complex in Bali, the center spans over 140 square meters (approx. 1,500 square feet) with designs inspired by rich copper tones and traditional Balinese Besek baskets, made with the same materials as the Dewata Coffee Sanctuary including terracotta brickwork and terrazzo floors. Up to 30 seats are available.

Customers visiting the new center can learn more about sourcing, roasting and brewing coffee, and explore coffee through interactive workshops.

“This year marks 20 years of Starbucks retail presence in Indonesia,” said Anthony McEvoy, cief executive of Starbucks at PT Sari Coffee Indonesia. “We are very proud that we are making another milestone here by opening the Dewata Coffee Experience Center, serving a range of Starbucks coffees, all locally grown, sourced, and roasted coffee exclusively in Indonesia, starting with coffee from the Aceh region.”

“We believe that by highlighting the dedication and care involved in coffee’s creation, the more appreciation others will have to ensuring its future, and we want to reaffirm our commitment to supporting coffee farmers in Indonesia by working closely with the Farmer Support Center to ensure a sustainable future of coffee for all,” he added.
