Starbucks cuts 180 corporate jobs in London and Hong Kong Hubs

It eliminated about 120 positions in London.

Starbucks has laid off corporate workers in its London and Hong Kong hubs that oversee parts of its international business, according to Bloomberg.

The company cut about 60 positions (20%) in the Hong Kong office overseeing the Asia-Pacific region excluding China and Japan, sources familiar with the matter said.

It also eliminated about 120 positions in London, the headquarters of its Europe, Middle East and Africa operations.

Last year, Starbucks entered into a joint venture for its China business, and it is examining options for its Japan operations, Bloomberg News reported.

As part of its restructuring, the company is moving some job responsibilities into the remit of licensees or of corporate teams in offices such as Seattle that serve multiple geographies.

Bloomberg said it is not clear how many employees will remain in the London office.
