Jollibee opens first cloud kitchen in Chicago
The Philippine conglomerate previously announced such a move as a means to offset losses brought by COVID-19.
Jollibee Foods Corporation has opened its first cloud kitchen in the U.S. as part of its global restructuring plans.
Situated in Chicago's River North neighborhood, the new facility is focused exclusively on fulfilling delivery and pick-up orders, allowing them to reach consumers in high-density metro areas.
"Thanks to the unique cloud kitchen format of this new location, we are able to adapt to the current difficult environment of the pandemic while still growing our delivery capability and our off-premise business in a key market. Now, metro Chicagoans will be able to experience the joy of our signature offerings from the comfort and safety of their own homes,” said Maribeth Dela Cruz, President of Jollibee Foods Corporation North America, Philippine Brands.
Jollibee earlier announced the launch of its U.S.-wide delivery service via DoorDash in April.
To celebrate the opening of Jollibee's first cloud kitchen, Jollibee will be offering $0 delivery fee for orders of $15 and above and a free Jollibee collectible for orders of $30 or more during the store's first month of operation. The brand will also award 50 free Family Meals to Chicagoans during the store's first week of operation through a social giveaway.
Jollibee currently has a Philippine network of more than 1,400 stores, which has more than 240 international branches, 54 of which are in North America.
