Chinese regulator reprimands Starbucks, Shake Shack over excessive data collection
The regulator urged these companies to take steps to protect these data.
Shanghai regulator called on three firms including Starbucks and Shake Shack earlier this week for collecting excessive personal information, Reuters reported.
Citing a statement from the city’s cyberspace regulator, these firms were urged to comprehensively rectify, protect personal information and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of consumers
The report said that two firms including Shake Shack have made initial improvements to the issues whilst Starbucks is actively making adjustments.
