
Coca-Cola in talks to acquire a stake in India's Café Coffee Day
The cafe chain has a footprint of some 1,750 stores in the country.
Beverage giant Coca-Cola is said to be eyeing a major stake in the Indian chain Café Coffee Day (CCD).
As reported by the Economic Times, the potential stake acquisition is said to be driven by Coca-Cola’s headquarters in Atlanta, with officials from the beverage maker’s global team engaged in active talks with the Coffee Day management.
CCD is owned by Coffee Day Global, a subsidiary of Coffee Day Enterprises. With a footprint of 1,750 cafes, CCD competes head-on with Starbucks and smaller coffee chains such as Barista in India.
