Starbucks Malaysia owner may go private: report

Starbucks has nearly 400 stores in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur-listed Berjaya Food Bhd may go private as its owner, Malaysian tycoon Vincent Tan is said to be in talks with banks about financing for a potential buyout deal, a report by Bloomberg said.

Berjaya Food Bhd owns Starbucks Corp.’s Malaysian operations, which has 393 stores. The operator also owns the American restaurant chain Kenny Rogers Roasters and the fresh soy brand Jollibean.

The report said the deliberations are preliminary.
