Yum China completes acquisition of controlling stake in Huang Ji Huang
The acquired brand operates 640 restaurants through a franchise model.
Yum China has completed the acquisition of a controlling interest in Chinese casual dining franchise business Huang Ji Huang group.
This acquisition closed nearly eight months after the fast food operator agreed to acquire the Beijing-based casual dining franchise in a bid to strengthen its footprint in the world’s second largest economy.
Founded in 2004, Huang Ji Huang group now operates approximately 640 restaurants through a franchise model in China and across the world.
Its portfolio includes its namesake simmer pot brand and Chinese fast food concept San Fen Bao.
Following the completion of the acquisition, Yum China is now planning to form a Chinese Dining Business Unit, comprising three brands: Little Sheep, East Dawning and Huang Ji Huang.
The company also intends to leverage Huang Ji Huang’s product research and development, franchise management and expertise in Chinese dining to drive synergies.
