Pizza Hut India MD Merrill Pereyra: Treat aggregators as partners
Pereyra, who assumed the position four months ago, cautioned chains from refusing to do business with aggregators.
In the midst of Southeast Asia’s booming online delivery sector, restaurant chains were urged to treat online delivery firms as partners, rather than enemies.
“You can’t compete with the aggregators; they have big dollars behind them, you have to treat them as partners and be strategic about how you work with them,” Pizza Hut India’s managing director Merrill Pereyra said in an interview with The Economic Times.
Pereyra, who assumed the position four months ago, cautioned chains from refusing to do business with aggregators.
“When someone has got huge funding, you’ve got to be careful in saying don’t come near me; you can’t say you won’t do business with them,” he said.
Southeast Asia’s online food delivery sector is projected to cross US$20 billion by 2025, based on the 2019 report from e-Conomy Southeast Asia.
There are currently 460 Pizza Hut stores in India with 100 stores eyed to open this 2020.
