Inaugural QSR Media Asia Detpak Conference & Awards 2018 in Singapore
Also in attendance were around 200 executives from top local and international QSR brands.
Top leaders in the quick service and fast casual industry gathered under one roof at the QSR Media Asia Detpak Conference & Awards 2018 held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore on January 24.
The conference consists of 15 20-40 minute sessions discussing the most pertinent issues confronting the QSR industry.
“We are living in an online world. Technology is shaping all parts of our lives as well as every single step of the restaurant experience. Before you get the consumer to your restaurant, they're already online researching your restaurant. They're going to check the type of cuisine that's available in the area - they're making an informed decision. The digital menu is leveraged by a lot of operators to provide visual cues for the consumers, and the brands that are doing that are seeing that pay off. In the Big 4 APAC countries (China, South Korea, Japan, Australia), digital visits are worth nearly $9 billion USD and contribute 1.8 billion visits annually,” said Ciara Clancy, The NPD Group's executive director, who flew in from Sydney just for the event to present key insights on the digital foodservice consumer.
The event was graced by 27 speakers and panelists.
Amongst the roster of esteemed panelists were Detpak Group general manager for Marketing and Innovation Tom Lunn; Google's business lead for FMCG, Retail and Food Alaap Tatwawadi; Euromonitor analyst Jocelyn Cheung; Yum! Brands-KFC Asia General Manager Richard Wallis; Focus Brands’ SVP, MD Asia Pacific Ken Chen; Subway’s Regional director for APAC Pavel Dorosevich; Partner at Boston Consulting Group, Aparna Bharadwaj; A&W Restaurants International’s director of marketing Kelvin Tan; BreadTalk Group’s vice president for Human Resources Bryden Toh; Deliveroo Singapore’s general manager Siddharth Shanker; UberEATS Singapore & Malaysia’s general manager Shri Chakravarthy Gopalakrishnan; and foodpanda Singapore’s managing director Luc Andreani.
The event was also dubbed as the biggest gathering of business leaders in the QSR industry as 74 QSR brands were present during the conference.
Around 200 delegates attended the conference.
Coinciding with the conference was an awards programme where 9 firms were lauded for their exemplary products and services in the QSR industry.
