Cafe Amazon arrives in Japan
The Thai coffee shop chain launched more than 200 km from Tokyo.
Cafe Amazon opened its first store in Kawauchi in the Fukushima prefecture, where its population of 2000 residents are still coping from the 2011 nuclear disaster.
PTT, the chain's owner company, said that a launch in such a location could help raise brand awareness.
Cafe Amazon offers its signature coffee blend made from the Thai beans it uses in its domestic outlets. The 60-seat shop resembles a wooden house, with customers being asked to leave their shoes at the entrance.
