Costa Coffee opens first cafe outlet in Japan

The UK brand plans to open three outlets in the country.

UK coffee chain Costa Coffee recently opened its first outlet in Japan.

The outlet will be operated by Sojitz Royal Café Corporation, a joint venture company by Sojitz Corporation and Royal Holdings Co., Ltd.

Costa Coffee stores will feature a bright and uplifting interior space that uses Costa Red and Costa Pink accents consistent with the brand’s new design being introduced globally. Costa Coffee’s Signature Blend is slowly roasted to a medium dark roast offering the true flavour and aroma of the coffee beans. Baristas check the taste every day, considering temperature and humidity, and carefully brew the coffee to deliver a balanced taste with a mellow aroma, smooth, and chocolate and nutty flavour that represents "Costa Coffee."

The outlet is located in Shibuya. According to Sojits, the opening represents the national expansion of Costa Coffee in Japan. A second location will also open in Otemachi on 1 September. Both locations will focus on takeout services.

Meanwhile, the operator is also planning to open a flagship location in Ginza on 6 October.
