McDonald's Singapore suspends all operations until 4 May
The chain employs more than 10,000 staff.
McDonald’s Singapore has been ordered by the country’s Ministry of Health to shut down all restaurant operations, including their McDelivery and Drive-Thru services, until 4 May.
“These are indeed unprecedented times for all of us. We have done all we can to put in place every safety precautionary measure to keep our employees and customers safe – and will continue to do our part to flatten the curve," the fast food chain said in a statement.
McDonald’s has more than 10,000 employees in the Lion City, operating more than 135 restaurants. It also operates 17 drive-thrus, 42 dessert kiosks and 48 McCafé outlets.
The company also said that it would continue to pay salaries of employees, including seniors.
The announcement also came after seven of its employees tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week. Singapore said it will extend its "circuit breaker" period by four weeks until 1 June, along with tighter measures such as closing more workplaces.
