Jollibee to launch Taiwan bubbletea brand Milksha in the US
The group owns 51% of Milkshop International Co. Ltd.
Jollibee Foods Corporation, the group that owns and operates fast-food giant Jollibee, will launch Taiwan bubble tea brand Milksha in the US.
According to a bourse filing in the Philippine Stock Exchange, its subsidiaries, Milkshop Japan Inc. and MKSA LLC (MKSA), have entered a license agreement whereby MKSA has been granted the right to open and operate Milksha branded stores in California, New York, and Texas in the United States (USA).
Further, this allows franchising opportunities to be available for said locations in the USA through Milkshop Japan Inc.
In November 2021, JFC signed a deal to acquire 51 percent of Milkshop International Co. Ltd. for $12.8m. Milkshop Japan Inc., a Japanese corporation, was part of this acquisition deal. MKSA LLC, a Delaware, USA limited liability company, was formed to be the license holder to open and operate Milksha branded stores in the USA.
As of July 2024, Milksha has 327 outlets, 305 of which are in Taiwan, 14 in Hong Kong, six in Australia, and two in the UK.
