Japan Foods and Minor Singapore forms JV to boost each other's brands across Asia
Minor Singapore will expand in Japan whilst Japan Foods will expand in Thailand and China.
Ajisen Ramen operator Japan Foods and Thai Express operator Minor Food Group Singapore has announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding to form a joint venture company to fuel their Asian growth.
There will be cross operations where Japan Foods will oversee Minor Singapore’s brands in Japan while the latter will operate Japan Foods’ brands in Thailand and China.
“We believe we have finally found the right partner in Minor Singapore, whose brands such as ‘Thai Express’ are very established in Singapore and elsewhere, and we are optimistic that the well-travelled Japanese people who enjoy international cuisine will also respond encouragingly to it,” Takahashi Kenichi, executive chairman and CEO of Japan Foods, said.
“Japan Foods and Minor Singapore share many synergies including strong brand portfolios and good operating track records. The partnership will leverage the cuisine and market expertise of both parties for mutual benefit. We look forward to seeing our brands in Japan,” Dellen Soh, Minor Singapore’s executive chairman and CEO, said.
Japan Foods owns Japanese concepts such as Ajisen Ramen, Osaka Ohsho and Menya Musashi while Minor Singapore handles Thai Express, Xin Wang Hong Kong Café, Poulet,
Buffet Town and Kiseki Japanese Buffet Restaurant.
