QSRs in Singapore post 12.5% sales increase
Overall food and beverage services sales grew by 4.3% to SG$882m (US$647.2m).
Quick service restaurants in Singapore continue to get a bigger share, reporting a 12.5% year-on-year (YoY) rise in sales.
According to the country’s statistics department, food and beverage services sales grew by 4.3% to S$882m ($647.2m) in September 2019 compared to the same period last year with total sales amounting to S$846m ($620.7m).
Sales of cafes, food courts and other eating places rose by 4.6% and restaurant sales increased by 2.7%. Food caterers’ sales, meanwhile, were at 0.5%.
On a monthly basis, sales of cafes, food courts and other eating places increased by 2.3% and fast food sales up by 1.9%. In contrast, food caterers sales dipped by 1.6% and restaurant sales were down by 1%.
Singapore’s statistics department reported that overall retail sales slowed down by 2.2% in the same period to SG$3.5bn.
