McDonald's celebrates Singapore National Service anniversary with nasi lemak burger launch
The fast food behemoth unveils its new burger meal in celebration of Singapore National Service’s 50th anniversary.
Nasi lemak is a breakfast staple of cooked rice with pandan leaves and sambal. According to Channel News Asia, the dish consists of a coconut-flavoured chicken thigh patty, fried egg, caramelised onions and cucumber slices topped with sambal sauce, and served between semolina buns.
In addition to the nasi lemak burger, the fast food chain also launched locally-inspired beverages and desserts, namely the Chendol McFlurry (ice cream with worm-like green rice flour jelly), chendol ice cream cones, the Bandung McFizz (condensed milk beverage flavored with rose cordial syrup), Pandan Coco Frappe (pandan flavor drink served with coconut and grass jelly), coconut pie and kueh salat (a pandan sponge cake with a glutinous rice layer).
The launch will coincide with the Singapore Food Festival 2017 celebrated also this month.
