Dining, delivery drive Vietnam's foodservice market to $45.2b by 2031

Growth is being fuelled by higher incomes, urbanisation, and recovering tourism.

The Vietnam foodservice market was valued at $24.77b in 2025 and is projected to rise from $27.38b in 2026 to $45.21b by 2031, reflecting a 10.55% compound annual growth rate over the forecast period, according to Mordor Intelligence.

Growth in the sector is being driven by rising disposable incomes, rapid urbanisation, and a recovery in tourism, which is lifting spending across restaurants, cafés, and delivery services.

At the same time, the industry is undergoing a shift toward digital transactions. Cashless payments are expanding rapidly, with growth reported at levels far above national GDP, and QR code payments have become routine in urban dining outlets.

Government tax measures, including VAT reductions under Decree 180/2024 and Decree 72/2024, have also helped ease operating pressures linked to higher input costs.

Digital platforms are increasingly embedded in ordering and consumption patterns, with consumers relying more on app-based recommendations and food delivery services.

Integrated QR payment systems and POS platforms are also being used to track customer behaviour, enabling operators to adjust pricing, marketing, and menus based on data rather than intuition.

According to the International Trade Administration, Vietnam’s digital economy is expected to reach about $45b by 2025, with forecasts ranging between $90b and $200b by 2030.

By segment, full-service restaurants held the largest share in 2025 at 67.74%, reflecting continued preference for sit-down dining and social eating occasions.

Quick-service restaurants are expanding through franchising and localised menus, while cafés and bars continue to benefit from Vietnam’s strong coffee culture.

Dine-in remains the dominant service format, accounting for 75.22% of the market in 2025, indicating that shared, on-site meals still play a central role in consumer behaviour.

Delivery, however, is the fastest-growing channel, projected to grow at a 12.88% CAGR from 2026 to 2031, supported by wider use of delivery apps and a steady shift toward convenience-oriented consumption.
