Number of restaurants worldwide serving Japanese food jumps 30% since 2017: report
Their number in Asia rose by nearly a half in the same period to 101,000 restaurants.
More and more restaurants are serving Japanese cuisine as their number increased by 30% in the past two years, Nikkei Asian Review has reported.
Citing data from Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the report noted that from 118,000 restaurants offering Japanese food in 2007, their number has reached about 156,000 in 2019.
By region, their number in Asia rose by nearly a half in the same period to 101,000 restaurants, followed by North America, which number grew by almost 20% to 29,400 sites.
Same restaurants in Oceania have increased by four in 10 and about three in 10 in Latin America.
