Deliveroo HK sees 20% boost in food orders during CNY
Chinese food orders saw a 6% drop.
Food orders via Deliveroo in Hong Kong increased over 20% during the Chinese New Year period compared to the week before, a spokesperson for the company said.
The rise in orders, the delivery firm said, indicates that more people are choosing to stay at home during the holiday season as families hold reunions.
It is also pointed out, however, that Chinese food orders saw a 6% drop, whilst orders for American food were up by 6%. Demand for Taiwanese cuisine also grew around 3% in the same period.
Moreover, Deliveroo said they are prioritising health and safety for both customers and riders amidst the outbreak of the novel-coronavirus in the mainland.
“We have been in touch with riders to share official guidance with regards to the [c]oronavirus, and we have a customer service team ready to answer any questions customers may have.”
Deliveroo has around 4,000 riders in Hong Kong.
Partnership with Hong Kong Red Cross
The delivery firm recently held a blood donation drive in partnership with Hong Kong Red Cross.
Around 50 company employees and self-employed riders have joined the CSR event.
Deliveroo said they would be holding quarterly CSR events, following the results of its latest survey conducted amongst their riders which revealed that 70% said they have not volunteered in the past 12 months, but were willing to volunteer in future activities.
