Deliveroo Singapore to double its walker fleet in 2020
Their walking deliveries claim to take less time compared to their average delivery time of 32 minutes.
Deliveroo in Singapore announced its plan to double its walker fleet in 2020 after launching the option last November.
The walker programme allows the delivery company’s riders to opt to fulfill orders on foot within the Lion City’s central business district covering Raffles Place, City Hall, Chinatown, Bugis, Tanjong Pagar, Marina Bay and Little India, reducing time spent on the road and on looking for parking spaces in high traffic areas.
“At Deliveroo, we’re constantly innovating to deliver a better experience for our riders and customers. A walker programme that focuses on the CBD, does both. Deliveries are made with greater ease and speed, as evidenced from the positive feedback we received from the pilot,” Deliveroo Singapore general manager Siddharth Shanker said in a statement.
“With walking deliveries now open for applications, we expect our walker fleet to double in the coming months and we will continue to work closely with riders to optimise the delivery process,” he added.
According to Deliveroo, their walking deliveries take less time than their average delivery time of 32 minutes. Since its trial, the walker programme has over a hundred of walkers whose numbers of completed orders growing by five times.
