Foodpanda Hong Kong adds extra relief measures for restaurants amidst latest COVID-19 wave

This includes a two month-long reduced commission rate option for pick-up restaurants.

Foodpanda Hong Kong introduced additional initiatives to support restaurant and retail partners amidst the latest wave of COVID-19 in the city and the recent ban on evening dine-in services at local restaurants.

This August, the delivery platform is waiving the onboarding and listing rate for new restaurant partners and shortening the onboarding time to four days.

All existing pick-up restaurants can choose to opt-in for either a Foodpanda-funded discount of 30% off pick-up service, valid from 1 to 14 August, followed by a 20% off deal thereafter or a reduced commission rate for pick-up of 2%, which would be valid from 1 August to 30 September.

Retail shops who wish to join the delivery service on Foodpanda mall can enjoy a 0% commission rate, valid from 1 to 31 August.

Foodpanda also extended its free delivery service for all shops on Foodpanda mall this month.

The platform said the new measures, which are backed by a seven-figure HKD investment, will potentially benefit more than 7,000 Hong Kong-based restaurant and shop vendors.

“We are constantly looking for ways to support all our partners within the restaurant and retail industries, and we hope that these measures will help to ease the financial burden of restaurant vendors and retail shops,” Foodpanda Hong Kong CEO Arun Makhija said.
