Foodpanda introduces delivery via jet blades
The food delivery company expects delivery time to be reduced to 15 minutes.
Singaporeans can now expect to receive their food orders in record timing, according to Foodpanda.
Starting April 1, the food delivery company will be introducing jet blades as a new mode of delivery.
An initial group of 300 foodpanda riders, approximately five percent of its rider fleet in Singapore, will be pioneering the new scheme islandwide.
The jet blade riders are expected to work with land-based riders to complete the delivery, with jet blades connecting point-to-point and land-based completing the last-mile journey.
The riders joining the new initiative have undergone a 30-hour training programme, which includes theory, waterway familiarisation, safety lessons along with practical jet blade instruction. They will also be equipped with specially designed watertight food delivery bags to ensure that the food is kept in pristine condition during the trip.
foodpanda will be closely monitoring the effectiveness of jet blade delivery, aiming to roll out the option for more riders to sign-up by the end of the year.
“Even though we have one of the fastest delivery times in Singapore, with the addition of the jet blades, we are making it even faster for customers to receive their orders - faster than walking to the coffee shop at your void deck. I’ve also attended the training jet blade sessions and I’m confident that this will propel us to the top of our game,” Foodpanda Singapore managing director Luc Andreani said.
To celebrate the launch of the new delivery option, a foodpanda customer can win a personal jet blade session with Ola Beach Club on Sentosa. Upon check out when ordering on foodpanda, customers will have to include the code “fpjetblade” into the voucher code box to be eligible. The winner will be announced on April 8 2019 via foodpanda’s Instagram page and will receive an email with full details.
