Transport company ComfortDelGro enters Singapore's food delivery scene
All fees will go to the cabbies.
Transport company ComfortDelGro has entered its hat in Singapore’s food delivery scene, which has been surging in demand amidst the country’s social distancing measures period.
The SGX-listed entity said its ComfortDelivery service was set up “specifically to assist ComfortDelGro Taxi cabbies during the COVID-19 pandemic” and the circuit breaker period, which has been extended until June.
Available daily from 9am to 10pm, the service will utilise ComfortDelGro’s 10,000-strong taxi fleet, with deliveries charged at a distance-based rate starting at SG$6.50.
Outlets who book cabbies for two drop-offs in one booking will pay a discounted rate starting at SG$8.50. All fees, the company says, will go directly to the cabbies’ pockets.
F&B businesses that have more than one outlet are required to set up separate accounts for each pickup location. About 20 orders of up to three different destinations per order can be made at any one time.
Cabbies will bid for the delivery jobs through the ComfortDelivery Driver App. Upon collection, the outlet will be told to pay the cabby either through PayNow or by cash.
“With ComfortDelivery, we want to give all F&B businesses access to fast, reliable and affordable delivery service that benefits people who ask for the food to be delivered to them. In the process, our cabbies can also earn some extra income during these very challenging times," Ang Wei Neng, CEO of ComfortDelGro Taxi, said in a media release.
