
McDonald's Japan starts using recycled plastic trays
The brand joins a number of fast food chains across Asia that have sustainability initiatives.
McDonald’s Japan has replaced their usual trays with recycled plastic trays, aiming to reduce plastic waste.
According to a report by NHK, the initiative started when they asked customers to donate their old plastic toys. The chain were able to create 100,000 trays using around 1 million toys.
Aside from McDonald’s Japan, Burger King Singapore and Starbucks South Korea have gone strawless to reduce plastic waste.
