Japanase pancake chain Chibo plans Asia expansion
They are also adding halal options to their menu.
Chibo announced that it is eyeing new locations in Asia to attract "previous visitors to Japan who may be familiar with their brand," Nikkei Asian Review has reported.
The brand began rolling out its expansion in May with a new location in Chinese Fuzhou. There are plans to open stores in Taiwan and Vietnam in the coming months, with the brand hoping to reach 20 overseas venues in its network by 2020.
The brand serves Osakan specialty pancakes known as okonomiyaki, a seasoned dish that contains vegetables, meat and seafood. The company announced that it is also targeting Muslim tourists by adding halal dining options to their domestic outlets, making the restaurant among the few that serve food that complies with Islamic practice.
