Amazon shuts down food delivery business in India

It first entered the business three years ago.

Amazon is leaving the food delivery business in India by the end of the year, the e-commerce giant announced

Amazon said that by 29 December it will shut down its food delivery business called Amazon Food. The business was first launched in India in May 2020. It expanded across Bengaluru but was never heavily marketed.

“We don’t take these decisions lightly. We are discontinuing these programs in a phased manner to take care of current customers and partners and we are supporting our affected employees during this transition. Amazon remains focused on providing our growing customer base with the best online shopping experience with the largest selection of products at great value and convenience,” Amazon said in a statement.
