Impossible Foods says Asia is their ‘number one focus'

They made their first foray in the region via Hong Kong.

After introducing the plant-based Impossible Burger to three restaurant menus in Hong Kong last year, Impossible Foods says it is determined to further expand in Asia.

“Asia is by far the number one focus for us. It is core to our mission; core to our business,” the company’s senior vice president for international, Nick Halla, told CNBC’s “Street Signs ”.

Last May saw the Bill Gates and Temasek-backed company announcing a Series E equity round of US$300 million to accelerate its rapid scaleup. In total, the food-tech industry startup has raised more than US$750 million.

Singapore has also gotten a taste of the Impossible Burger, with VeganBurg being the first concept in the Lion City to serve the patty.
