Burger King opens 3,000th restaurant in Asia-Pacific
More than half were opened in the last five years.
Burger King has reached a new milestone, having opened its 3,000th restaurant in the Asia-Pacific region.
The new restaurant, operated by a joint venture owned by Burger King, TFI TAB Food Investments (TFI) and Cartesian Capital, is located at the Huatai Center in Shanghai, China.
The fast food chain attributes their growth over the last five years through franchising in “high-growth markets”such as China, India, South Korea, and Indonesia.
“We have served the Asia-Pacific market for over 40 years, and have grown rapidly in the region recently, doubling our restaurant count in just the past five years,” Burger King Asia-Pacific president Sami Siddiqui said in a statement.
Aside from Burger King, TFI is also the partner of Tim Hortons - also under Restaurant Brands International - in the country. The chicken chain recently announced its ambitious plan to develop and open more than 1,500 restaurants in China over the next ten years.
