McDonald’s Japan launches rehiring programme for ex-workers
The programme aims to tap 3 million former crew members as a part-time workforce.
McDonald’s Japan has launched a rehiring programme that will allow former crew members to come back part-time without the need to send a resume or undergo a training programme in a bid to augment its workforce during busy times of the day.
Called Comeback! Crew in English, the spot-work programme aims to tap nearly 3 million former crew members to work across 3,000 McDonald’s restaurants in Japan.
McDonald’s Japan said that restaurants that have piloted the programme have reported positive results, including stabilising store operations and improving profit margins through targeted staffing adjustments during peak seasons.
Short-term, one-off, or on-demand jobs called ‘spot-work’ have seen an explosive rise in Japan, driven by chronic labour shortages.
