Generation X customers more supportive for sustainable packaging in restaurants: Deliveroo
Gen X consumers were considered the most supportive of sustainable packaging.
More than six in 10 customers in Hong Kong revealed that they prefer to purchase from restaurants that have sustainable packaging, a Deliveroo survey showed.
Over 61% of customers said access to eco-friendly packaging is one of their top priorities when accessing online meal delivery services.
Generation X consumers were the most supportive, with almost 70% saying sustainable packaging is “a key consideration of takeaway orders,” compared to Gen Z (aged 18-25), with 57% of them saying it is key consideration.
Against this backdrop, 56% of restaurants were using sustainable packaging, with higher operating costs (83%) being their main obstacles whilst subsidies are the biggest motive for restaurants to change to environmentally-friendly packaging.
