Singapore's F&B sales see slight improvement amidst Phase 2 of post-circuit breaker reopening
Total sales in June was estimated at S$496 million.
Sales of Singapore’s food & beverage services slid by 43.5% in June, a slight improvement over the 50.1% decline in May, according to data from the country’s Department of Statistics.
All categories registered drops, with restaurants leading the way with a fall of 59%.
Takings for food caterers fell 48.1% whilst cafes, foodcourts and other eating places saw sales fall by 32.7%
Fast-food outlets registered a drop in sales of 20.5%.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, turnover of restaurants, cafes, food courts and other eating places as well as fast food outlets grew by between 11% and 43.4% compared to the previous month.
Total sales value of F&B services in June was estimated at S$496 million, 32.7% of which came from online F&B sales.
The estimated total retail sales value in June was about S$2.6 billion, with online retail sales made up an estimated 18.1 per cent.
The data comes as the country exited its COVID-19 "circuit breaker" period and retail outlets resumed operations under Phase 2 of the city's reopening.
