Singapore’s F&B sales shrinks 4.5% in October
Fast-food outlets, however, saw takings jump by 10.1%.
Sales of Singapore’s F&B services shrank 4.5% in October year-on-year, a reversal of the 4.5% uptick in September.
Data released by the Singapore Department of Statistics also saw F&B turnover sliding 5% in October over the previous month. For the most of September, up to five fully vaccinated diners were allowed to dine at F&B establishments.
Restaurant takings fell by 24% year-on-year in October due to the tightened dine-in restrictions compared with last year. However, food caterers’ turnover jumped 39% due to the low base last year.
Fast-food outlets saw takings jumping 10.1% whilst cafes, food courts and other eating places saw a 5% jump due to higher demand for food deliveries.
Total sales value of F&B services was estimated at S$659 million in October, of which online sales made up 38.4%—higher than September's 34.1%.
