MOS Burger to trial robot worker in Tokyo

The remote-controlled robot will be taking orders and answering questions about their menu.

MOS Burger is set to trial a remote-controlled robot in Tokyo, Japan Today has reported.

Named OriHime, it will be working the register at their Osaki branch, taking orders and answering questions customers might have about the menu.

The robot, which will be manned by employees who cannot report physically to work due to illness, features the chain’s uniform: an apron, cap, and a “wakaba mark” insignia that denotes trainees and newer workers.

Manufactured by Ory Laboratories, a Japanese startup, MOS Burger’s OriHime will be working as a one-month pilot program starting on 27 July.
