Canadian 2 for 1 Pizza adopts TRIA's sustainable pizza box packaging
The box only uses a fix 150 grams of paper board.
Singapore pizza chain Canadian 2 For 1 Pizza, has adopted a new sustainable pizza box packaging from TRIA, the packaging solutions company that focuses on design and innovation for sustainability.
The pizza packaging designs incorporate features such as a carrier handle, tiered stacking, and tamper-proof measures, using just only 150 grams of paper board, without the need for additional materials.
According to Ng Pei Kang, CEO of TRIA, this breakthrough design involved considerations on paper engineering, usage behaviours, and pizza delivery operations, whilst responding to the urgent need for sustainability.
“This is how the modern pizza box should be like, a much-needed revamp after 60 years. Enough of seeing pizza boxes delivered in plastic bags. TRIA’s goal was to spark a change in the food delivery space - excessive packaging materials and plastics. In the case of TRIA’s pizza box, we want to start a conversation by proving a point – just when everyone thinks a pizza box is a pizza box, how can we do more with the same piece of paper board? The true mark of a good design is to achieve more with less. This requires critical thinking and a mix of user empathy and engineering,” Ng Pei Kang said.
As of 15 March 2023, six Canadian 2 For 1 Pizza outlets located in Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Hougang, Punggol, Jurong, and Woodlands are utilising these eco-friendly and innovative pizza boxes for customers. The brand plans to roll out the latest pizza boxes gradually across all its outlets in Singapore throughout Q2 of 2023.
