JAKARTA’s coffee lovers are in for a new and luxurious treat — Bacha Coffee, the legendary Moroccan coffee brand, has opened its doors at Plaza Senayan. This iconic brand, originating in Marrakesh in 1910, blends heritage and innovation, promising an authentic experience for coffee enthusiasts.
Gabrielle Halim, CEO of Erajaya Food & Nourishment, the operator of Bacha Coffee in Indonesia, said their new branch offers a unique quick-service dining concept that creates a sensory-rich environment for locals to get a feel of the best in Moroccan coffee culture.
“Bacha Coffee’s diverse selection of Arabica coffees and unique gift offerings align seamlessly with Indonesia’s tradition of gift-giving, enhancing our commitment to quality and innovation.”
Spanning over 400 square meters, Bacha Coffee Plaza Senayan features a boutique, a takeaway counter, and a luxurious coffee room. It comfortably accommodates up to 50 guests, offering an exclusive setting perfect for coffee enthusiasts and gift seekers alike.
Sensory experience
Stepping into the Bacha Coffee Boutique, guests encounter a visually captivating environment with ochre-coloured tubes lining the walls. The boutique showcases over 200 varieties of 100% Arabica coffee sourced from Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Asia. The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans enriches the sensory experience.
“The Bacha Coffee Room offers a journey into the enchanting world of Dar el Bacha, featuring hand-painted latticework, authentic Moroccan kaftans, and meticulously arranged tables on black-and-white marble floors,” Halim told QSR Media.
“This setting recalls a time when coffee was served with utmost elegance,” he added.
At the takeaway counter, guests can enjoy over 200 types of coffee prepared in the traditional Bacha Coffee style, served hot or cold.
Accompaniments include Chantilly vanilla bean-flecked cream, raw sugar sticks, and reusable glass straws. The menu also features a selection of coffee cakes, pastries, and filled croissants like Kaya, Almond, and 1910 Coffee & Chocolate.
Coffee legacy
Bacha Coffee’s legacy began at the majestic Dar el Bacha Palace in Marrakech, frequented by cultural and political luminaries in the early 20th century.
Since its 2019 reintroduction, Bacha Coffee has expanded across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, offering a range of 100% Arabica coffees and exquisite accessories globally.
Taha Bouqdib, president & CEO of V3 Gourmet which is Bacha Coffee’s parent company, said they intended to bring all this history to Bacha Coffee Plaza Senayan. “Our Jakarta location blends heritage with the future, making 100% Arabica coffee the centrepiece of an immersive sensory experience,” Bouqdib told QSR Media.
With its VIP room offering a luxurious setting and all-day dining options, the coffee boutique invites guests to indulge in coffee cocktails and explore its array of exquisitely packaged products and accessories.
Whether for a leisurely visit or quick takeaway, Bacha Coffee promises a memorable experience for all, Bouqdib said.
