Mao Shan Café eyes expansion across China
The durian-based cafe brand is targeting 100 stores by 2020.
Mao Shan Cafe has announced its plans to launch more boutique cafes, the first ten of which is planned to open in Guangdong, China, by 2019.
An independent subsidiary of The Funding Partners, Mao Shan Café also announced its plans to collaborate with Chinese technological food delivery giants, Meituan and Ele.me to support its expansion and boost sales.
Mao Shan's first flagship store was first launched in July. As part of the brand's franchise agreement, owners can get help choosing a location, negotiating a lease, working with a bank, design & construction of the store, developing the menu and training at the existing Mao Shan Cafe.
Franchisees will be primarily required to pay an initial one-time franchise fee, plus an ongoing royalty of a percentage of revenue, among other fees. Further details can be obtained from their website, maoshan.wang.
Malaysia's durian exports to China have soared since the turn of this decade. From merely 40 tonnes in 2011, shipments of durians from Malaysia into China have skyrocketed to 368 tonnes in 2016.
In China, where whole durians are harder to come by, durian-flavored products have skyrocketed, appearing in forms such as ice cream, mooncakes, tarts, crepes, macaroons, and drinks.
