McDonald's Japan net sales bolster 11.2% to $2.4b

Under the leadership of CEO Sarah Cassanova, the fast food giant began to focus on improvements in the quality of food, promotions, service, and employee treatment.

McDonald's Holdings Company Japan, Ltd. announces earnings results for the period ended December 31, 2017 and has provided earnings guidance for the period ending December 31, 2018. Its operating income was JPY 18,912m ($175.3m) as compared to JPY 6,930m ($64.3m) in the same period last year.

For the period, the company reported, net sales of JPY 253,640m ($2.3b) as compared to JPY 226,646m ($2.1b) same period last year. Net earnings per share were JPY 180.69 ($1.67) per share as compared to JPY 40.37 ($0.37) per share same period last year.

Under the leadership of CEO Sarah Cassanova, the fast food giant began to focus on improvements in the quality of food, promotions, service, and employee treatment. The company suffered a net loss exceeding 300m dollars in 2015, as sales sank due to problems related to quality control.

The company provides earnings guidance for the period ending December 31, 2018. For the period, the company expected net sales of JPY 269,000m ($2.5b) whilst expecting its operating income to be JPY 21,800m ($202.3m). Earnings per share is expected to hit JPY 146.66 ($1.36) per share as ordinary profit would be JPY 21,700m ($201.6m).
