Luckin Coffee partners with Stripe to drive SEA expansion
This enables local payment methods such as GrabPay, PayNow, and FPX.
Luckin Coffee has partnered with Stripe to support its international expansion, starting with Singapore and Malaysia.
With Stripe’s tools and support, Luckin Coffee completed full payment integration across Singapore and Malaysia in just one month, enabling consistent user experiences and efficient operations. The single-integration model allows the company to replicate this setup in future markets with minimal added development, lowering costs and speeding up time to market.
Additionally, it also allowed Luckin to support popular regional payment methods like credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, GrabPay, PayNow, and FPX. This setup ensures a smooth checkout experience and adapts to local consumer habits.
Luckin, which operates on a mobile-first model in China, said it needed a flexible and localised payment system to adapt to Southeast Asia’s varied consumer habits. Stripe also provided regulatory guidance and market insights to support a smooth market entry.
The move comes as Southeast Asia’s specialty coffee market, worth $4.4b in 2023, continues to grow, with demand expected to rise by 8% annually through 2028.
