Jollibee to bring Panda Express to the Philippines
The Philippines' largest fast food chain has also set a date for the opening of their first site in the UK.
Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) has announced that they entered a 50/50 joint venture agreement with American-based Panda Restaurant Group to bring the Chinese restaurant brand Panda Express to the Philippines.
In its initial phase, they plan to launch five outlets in Metro Manila.
“We are thrilled about this relationship between Panda and JFC. Very much in line with JFC’s brand portfolio, it has excellent tasting dishes at reasonable price points. Long-term, Panda Express has a high potential for broad acceptance across the country,” Jollibee’s chairman Tony Tan Caktiong said in an announcement.
Panda Restaurant Group also owns the Panda Inn and Hibachi-San brands. Panda Express is currently operating over 2,100 stores in around the globe.
“We feel fortunate to be partnering with a company that has a history of growing and adding significant value to its new businesses. We look forward to tapping into JFC’s market expertise to grow the Panda Express brand into a household name in the Philippines and, more importantly, actioning our shared value of inspiring people to better their lives,” Andrew Cherng, co-founder and co-CEO of Panda, said.

The new launch is part of their plan to have 500 new stores, in various countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia.
“We would like to have a significant presence in the UK. We will do this not only by the sheer volume of stores, but strategic selection of the best locations for our stores, to maximize accessibility and best serve all our potential customers,” Dennis Flores, president of Jollibee’s international business in Europe, Middle East, and Asia, told QSR Media in a previous interview.
