KFC China launches its first healthy concept restaurant
KFC’s K PRO no longer sells fried chicken.
Whilst the majority of consumers are becoming more concerned with the health content of the food they are about to eat, traditional QSRs have to make necessary changes.
According to a release, KFC recently opened a new “K PRO” restaurant in Hangzhou, China. The revamp altered the store's color scheme with green and white from its usual red and white accents to highlight the brand's healthier journey.
Also included in the refresh was the menu innovation that no longer caters to their main-selling fried chicken but is now filled with healthier options. The Chinese K PRO completely transformed the former KFC food offerings with healthy salad, smoked salmon, crayfish, chicken, sandwich, and Japan's asahi beer.
According to a KFC China Yum spokesperson, the K PRO is still in the trial stage and more details about the restaurant will be announced in August. In addition, the official said KFC is set to change to meet the market demand, and has given emphasis on the healthy restaurant K PRO to entice the majority of white-collared and millennial market.
